The AKC describes the Chihuahua as a small dog that comes in two varieties or coat types. There is a difference in coat type, long and short hair. This does not categorize the Chihuahua by size.
The chihuahua is in the toy breed catagory. There will always be a size differendce between dogs of the same breed. If you look at any other family, whether it be human or animal there is always a difference between them. The same goes for the chihuahua.
Unfortunately, people have come up with different names for the same breed of dog. Teacup, Pocket Size, Tiny, Toy, Miniature or Standard. These names are made up by the seller/breeder to make a sale, these terms are misleading and false.
Sometimes within a litter there will be a smaller puppy that may just be a runt. Many times when getting a smaller puppy or runt, there are many health problems that may cause the puppy to even die at a later age. Be careful when looking for that special puppy. And goodluck.
